A few bills in congress

Monday, March 21st, 2005

I will address my opinon on Terri Schiavo in more detail later when I have plenty of time. But I will say I side with Terri’s parents and believe things are looking good and that Michael Schiavo is scum.

I have been doing some work on the template on here. Making progress. Still got some work to do. PHP is acting weird. Probably just me since I am not familiar with all of the original bBlog code.

Some sites, which I will add on my links section have full time employees who review every bill that goes through congress and whether or not to support it. Here are a few from this congress and my positions. go to http://thomas.loc.gov/ to read each Bill.

I played around with the template some on bBlog, trying to make it match the layout of my main page. The bBlog template uses css to align everything and my main page uses tables. I will try to create a new template using the Smarty Template System some time in the future.

I was reading a thread on the U.S. Election Atlas Forum ( http://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php ) and there was a thead on economic right vs. left. Generally we consider Republicans on the Right and Democrats on the Left. Democrats believe in what is referred to as Social Democracy, which is a mix of Socialism and Capitalism. While some will say the Republicans believe in Capitalism, I think they are closer to Corporatism. They give plenty of advantages to large corporations, support corporate welfare, and subsidizing certain industries (farms and oil). So this leads to the next question. Obviously Socialism (and Communism) are on the left. Many would say that Corporatism would be in the Right. Both are forms of redistribution of income, one to society and the other to businesses, and both are forms of government intervention. So I think True capitalism is on the right and both Socialism and Corporatism are on the left. So I did a little research on google for Capitalism Socialism Corporatism and came across and essay by Anthony Gregory http://www.lewrockwell.com/gregory/gregory64.html that agrees with my statement. If you agree or disagree, feel free to post a reply.
